About Us

In the words of John Paul II, what is essential in order to bring the Good News to the modern world is a proclamation that is “new in ardour, methods, and expression”.

Clonmacnois Press is here to be a witness to hope and to answer the ancient call of proclaiming the Gospel with a new ardour.

Clonmacnois Press takes its name after the ancient monastic site founded by St. Ciarán in the heart of Ireland in 545. It seeks to revive the old tradition of Clonmacnois whereby beautifully illustrated manuscripts were produced and spread outwards to a surrounding world that so hungered for the Gospel in the era following the collapse of the Roman Empire.

In the same way that Clonmacnois helped spread the faith and the Word of God across Ireland, Europe and the far flung corners of the world this new Irish publishing company seeks to be at the service of the New Evangelisation and to inspire and help strengthen the Catholic faith everywhere.

We are committed to providing Catholic resources which serve the New Evangelisation and which have an Irish connection in their origin.
